| Dream Catchers |
Each participant will make a dream catcher and learn the legend and the beliefs of Native American culture surrounding this beautiful craft. Sweet dreams. |
4th grade and up |
| Rock Art |
Each participant will be introduced to petroglyphs and pictographs and then be able to create their own story utilizing characters on a rock (plaster of paris form). |
2nd grade and up |
| Life in Stone |
An introduction to fossils is made with a follow-up of “pecking” out their own fossils is the focus of this workshop. Fossils may include: trilobites, horn coral, sharks teeth, gastropods and/or brachiopods. |
2nd grade and up |
| Panning for Gold |
A brief introduction to the mining history of the area includes then a follow up experience in “Panning for gold” in our sluice. Of course, minerals that are found are yours to keep. (this activity is weather sensitive)This activity will be available Spring, 2007. |

| Pioneer Creativity |
This includes several opportunities to become a pioneer through learning the skill of the “Buzz Saw” and understanding the decorative value of “tin punch” (only we are using copper) for decoration on the old “pie cupboards.” |
3rd grade and up |
| Museum Treasure Hunt |
This activity is done in small groups and allows for freedom of exploration of the specimens and artifacts in the Museum to find the answers. Completion by each group receives a prize. |

| "Beat of the Drum" Tour* |
Participants can choose two experiences:
1 - Dream catchers
2 - Rock Art
3 - Knapping arrowheads
4 - Prayer bundles
5 - Medicine bags
6 - Pottery
* At least 30 particpants are needed in order to do the Beat of the Drum Tour. Please, no more than 75 |
